| Adjunct Faculty Recognition History
The AFA in cooperation with the MCCCD Colleges has for many years recognized at the Adjunct Faculty Conference:
Adjunct Faculty Service Longevity of 15 years or more.
College Adjunct Faculty of the Year
College Best Practices
In 2012, Adjunct Faculty longevity recognition was expanded to include 10 and 5 years.
In 2011-2012, The Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Process has been revised to include Adjunct Faculty feedback and create a more active process.
In 2010, recognizing that there were many Adjunct Faculty performing at pretty high levels among our over 6,000 constituents and
realizing that the processes used at the Colleges for selecting just one Adjunct Faculty per year was insufficient
to ever get around to recognizing them we began a program of Outstanding Adjunct Faculty self-nomination.
While self-nomination has been considered unseemly by some Adjunct Faculty and Administrators alike,
for many it has been viewed as a real way to get some recognition for the great work they are doing and
as a potential guide to others for what might be potential areas of self-development and improved effectiveness.
